  1. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

BA in Anthropology

  • Those who have a minimum aggregate of C+ (C plus) in K. C. S. E. or those with the equivalent of a K. C. S. E. from an Institu­tion recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Those who have a minimum aggregate of C (C plain) in K.C.S.E. plus a Diploma from an Institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Those with a minimum aggregate of C- (C minus) in K.C.S.E. plus a Diploma and a Certificate.
  • Those with at least Division II  in 'O' Level certificate (E. A. C. E. or K. C. E.) with three years relevant experience.
  • Those who have at least two (2) principal passes in 'A' Level (E. A. A. C. E. or K. A. C. E.) or its equivalent from an Institution recognized by the Univ. of Nairobi Senate.
  • Those with a Degree from the University of Nairobi or from an Institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.

BA in Gender and Development Studies

  • Those who have obtained an aggregate of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent;
  • Those with KCSE mean grade C(C plain) or equivalent plus a Certificate and Diploma.
  • Those with a minimum aggregate of C- (C minus) in K.C.S.E. plus a Diploma and a Certificate.
  • Those with at least Division II in “O” level certificate plus three years relevant work experience;
  • Those who have at least two (2) principal passes in 'A' Level (E. A. A. C. E. or K. A. C. E.) or its equivalent from an Institution recognized by the Univ. of Nairobi Senate.
  • Those with a degree or diploma from a rec­ognized University or other institutions of higher learning.

MA in Anthropology

  • Holders of a first degree with at least 2nd Class Honours (Upper Division) from the University of Nairobi or any other institutions recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Holders of a first degree with 2nd Class Honours (Lower Division) from the University of Nairobi or any other institutions recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate with two years relevant post qualification experience.
  • Holders of a first degree with 2nd Class Honours(Lower Division) and a postgraduate diploma from the University of Nairobi or any other institution recognised by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Holders of a pass degree   from the University of Nairobi or any other institution recognised by the University of Nairobi Senate with at least five years relevant post qualification experience.

MA in Gender and Development

  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree of the University of Nairobi with at least a 2nd Class honors (Upper Division) or equivalent qualification from other Institutions recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree with a 2nd class honors (Lower Division) and a post-graduate Diploma from the University of Nairobi or other Institutions recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Holders of a first degree with 2nd Class Honours (Lower Division) and a postgraduate diploma from the University of Nairobi or any other institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Holders of a pass degree   from the University of Nairobi or any other institution recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate with at least five years relevant post qualification experience.

PhD in Anthropology

The doctoral programme consists of full time or part-time study, research and writing of thesis. The Common Regulations for the Doctor of Philosophy in all faculties apply.

Entry Requirements:

  • Holders of a Master of Anthropology degree of the University of Nairobi or from an institution recognized by University of Nairobi Senate.
  • Holders of a Masters degree in a discipline other than Anthropology shall be eligible for Registration if they satisfy Senate that they possess sufficient foundation in Anthropology to be able to pursue studies and research and write a thesis on an Anthropological subject. 

PhD in Gender and Development Studies
