IAGAS Director, Prof. Owuor Olungah (right) receives books donated

by Mr. Hassan Kochore(left), a former student of the Institute.  

On 18th/1/2018 a former student of the Institute of Anthropology, Gender & African Studies (IAGAS), Mr. Hassan Kochore, who graduated in the year 2012 made a donation of nine books to his ALMA MATER. This presentation took place in the Director’s office at the National Museum.

Also present at the function were Ms. Judith Obam, Senior Assistant Registrar at the Institute and Mr. James Ng’iela Ochieng’ who is the Administrative Assistant.

Mr. Hassan Kochore informed the Director that after graduating from the Institute of Anthropology, Gender & African Studies, he proceeded to Oxford University in the United Kingdom where he successfully undertook his Masters Degree in Anthropology, and is currently pursuing his doctorate studies at Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle-Saale, in Germany.

On his part, the Director, Prof. Olungah expressed his gratitude to his former student and said that his gesture is highly appreciated, and promised to continue to have an academic relationship with Mr. Kochore.

It was also agreed that the Institute of Anthropology, Gender & African Studies would arrange a day for Mr. Kochore to present part of his field work data and also mentor  the present students besides informing them of the existing scholarship opportunities globally.
