Mr Geoffrey Otieno Muga has won a PhD Schorlaship to study at the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies. The Title of His Proposal is: Ecology, livelihoods and Rift Valley Fever in Ijara, North Eastern Kenya. The Schorlaship is jointly offered by by the Intrenational Development Research Centre (IDRC) and International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE). Mr Muga Holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Anthropology, from the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies, University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in land management from the Institute of Housing and Urban Development studies (IHS), Erasmus University, The Netherlands. His research interests lie in the areas of food security, aging and socio-cultural determinants of health.
Hassan Hussein Kochore, an alumnus of the Institute of Anthropology, Gender and African Studies has won the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship to study MSc at the University of Oxford. Hassan who studied B.A Anthropology between 2008 and 2012, wrote a project report titled: ‘Living on the edge’: space and identity among the Boran of Marsabit County, Northern Kenya. The project report played a key role in the award of this scholarship to study at Oxford. We at the Institute would like to congratulate him on this achievement and wish him all the very best.
